Weddings at Woodhouse

Why have a wedding day when you can have a wedding weekend?

Venture into the 54-hectare Adelaide Hills property, over the bridge and through gum-tree studded countryside to find your own private wedding retreat at Old Woodhouse Manor just 25 minutes from Adelaide. This two-story, heritage-listed mansion and its stunning garden will be yours for 48 hours (3pm Friday to 3pm Sunday), providing the perfect backdrop and venue for a very special and unique celebration for up to 130 people.

Stroll through the lush garden in the shade of century old Magnolia trees, explore the network of pathways and staircases that lead to the gurgling waterfall and say 'I do' in your chosen location. Options include tiered paved areas or clearings down by the creek. There are also a number of spaces that can serve as your social hub, where you'll mingle with friends and family as day fades into night and twinkling stars begin to peek through the majestic canopy.

Hidden staircases, wide verandas, colonial gardens and pine forests are a photographer’s dream and your Wedding at Woodhouse will allow you to capture the many varied landscapes without ever leaving your party.

Two private suites on the ground floor of the Manor and group bunk house accommodation upstairs is included in the package (up to 60 overnight guests), perhaps for interstate guests or those looking to keep the party going. Just imagine waking up with your nearest and dearest to share stories of your special day... then heading out for unlimited shared access to our outdoor adventure activities. We're the ultimate family-friendly wedding venue!

You are welcome to choose your own suppliers (catering, flowers, photographer and party hire) to help manage costs and bring your personalised wedding vision to life.

The increasing popularity of hiring the Manor for weddings and functions means that we have guests staying most weekends. We respect our guests' privacy and so request that you please get in touch to arrange a private tour when the Manor is vacant. That will also give us the opportunity to show you around and make sure you don't miss any of the hidden gems!

Please email weddings@woodhouse.org.au... and in the meantime feel free to take yourself on a guided tour from home.

Yes. There is a ramp for wheelchairs and an accessible toilet.

Many couples book classical musicians to provide music during the ceremony. However pre-recorded music is also popular. There are many power sockets located around the venue to plug in a mini sound system or MP3 player or you can bring a CD/MP3 player to play.

After 11pm the music and dancing should move through to the ball room to minimise the impact on our environment and our neighbours.

To avoid an additional cleaning fee, we simply ask that you leave the building and its surrounding grounds in the same condition you found it. A professional clean and inspection will be completed after check out.

Absolutely! Anyone who stays on the property is welcome to use any of our adventure experiences included in the venue hire. Where else in the world can you do that?!

Our two bottom rooms have linen and are decked out for your stay, this includes furnished rooms with queen beds.

We have linen sets available for hire for additional guests (advanced notice required), or you may encourage them to bring their own if they plan to stay.

They weren’t big on indoor plumbing or en-suites in the 1860’s and, as Old Woodhouse Manor is Heritage listed, we have been able to provide you with shared bathroom facilities.

There is a large car park providing ample spaces for guests. Cars may be left overnight, at the owner’s risk, for collection the next morning by 10.00am. Coaches can drop off and collect guests; please confirm the drop-off and collection points with the Events Team.

"The day turned out nothing like we’d planned thanks to the wild, wet weather, we moved ceremony location twice the morning of the wedding but in hindsight we wouldn’t change a thing. It was such an adventure. We’d originally planned to have the ceremony in the paddocks, it was then moved to the front carpark and finally moved inside to the dining hall. Each setting was beautiful.  The venue is versatile as we found out on the day and stunning from any angle. Our guests were blown away by the sheer beauty of not only the gardens but the building itself. The fact that we could stay there with our family is something we don’t think we would have been able to do at any other venue. Dealing with yourself and the team leading up to and at the time of our event was effortless and a pleasure." Scott + Kalyan

"We had the absolute best day we could have hoped for.  All our guests had a wonderful time, and so did our suppliers!! Everyone was raving about how fun the day was.  Woodhouse was the perfect setting for our wedding, and we really appreciate all your help along the way."  Georgina + Neil

"Woodhouse was the most perfect place to have our wedding, in every single moment. The location was perfect, and the freedom we had to create the space in our own way was perfect. People keep telling us it was the best and most joyful wedding they've been to, so thank you big time for being a huge part of that!" Lauren + Liam

"The beautiful garden was the ideal setting for the ceremony and the facilities are a credit to you all, making planning for the event so easy and flexible. For our friends to be able to stay the night and have breakfast with us, extended the surrealistic feeling over the two days." Mathew + Christel

"...we wanted our special ‘day’ to instead be a weekend long celebration. We had many family and friends travelling from interstate and overseas and the idea of trying to say “hello, thank you so much for coming” and hugging everyone enough, in only one evening, seemed unimaginable. ‘Old Woodhouse Manor’ at Woodhouse in the Adelaide Hills was large enough to fit all of our guests affordably, and was one big, beautiful colonial style building. The house and surrounding grounds felt like a secluded getaway complete with a creek, winding paths through the forest and an abundance of autumn trees." Narelle + Steve

"We had such an amazing experience at Woodhouse, it was truly magical and we can't recommend it highly enough! Our guests were blown away with the venue!" Etienne + Stephanie

"We honestly had the best best night. Woodhouse is just so incredibly beautiful, and all our guests raved about it. Thanks for all your help over the planning period, it was very much appreciated." Phoebe + Pat

"I was like a giddy school girl at Sean + Sarah’s wedding!!!! Everywhere I looked there was something to photograph. I don't think they could have chosen a more perfect location." Carly, Stirling Photography

"I want to come back every year and redo the wedding - it’s the best location and best day of my life!! Liz + Jack
