Explore some of the individual activity options below:

Yin yoga is a slow-paced, passive style of yoga that focuses on holding poses for extended periods, typically 3-5 minutes, to target deeper connective tissues like fascia, ligaments, and joints. It aims to improve flexibility, joint mobility, and reduce stress by incorporating mindful breathing and long holds. Restorative Yin Yoga has a deep calming effect on your nervous system leaving you feeling refreshed and restored

Beginner friendly classes, Hatha yoga is a broad term encompassing various styles of yoga that focus on physical postures, or asanas, and breathing techniques, known as pranayama. Hatha yoga aims to build strength, flexibility, and awareness of the body while promoting relaxation and mindfulness. Yoga and meditation offer numerous wellbeing benefits, including stress reduction, improved mental clarity, enhanced physical health, and a greater connection with self and nature. The combination of mindful movement, breathwork, and meditation in a natural setting can promote a sense of calm, improve mood, and boost overall well-being.

Bushwalking is a gentle walk through natural environments like forests or bush trails, offering a chance to slow down, disconnect, and enjoy the outdoors. It’s proven to reduce stress and enhance mental clarity.

Mindful movement involves slow, intentional activities - like stretching or walking - combined with focused breathing and body awareness.

Together, they form a calming practice that promotes both physical and mental wellbeing through presence, relaxation, and connection with nature. Bushwalking and mindful movement also pair beautifully with meditation, mindfulness, and our botanical art classes.

Nature Connection Practice also known as shinrin-yoku, is a Japanese practice of immersing yourself in nature, particularly forests, to improve physical and mental well-being. Being led by an experienced practitioner Nature Connection Practice involves specific exercises that encourage clients to slow down, engage the senses, and connect with the environment. This practice is gaining global recognition as a preventative health measure.

Nature Journaling is a guided practice that combines observation and creativity to explore the natural world. It typically involves spending time outdoors and recording what you see through writing, sketching, and other visual methods. Participants focus on details such as plants, animals, and landscapes, documenting their observations in a journal. This practice encourages a deeper, more mindful connection with nature and is accessible to people of all ages and skill levels. Beyond fostering appreciation and understanding of the environment, nature journaling can also offer cognitive benefits, such as improving focus, enhancing memory, and sparking curiosity.

Meditation is a practice where a person uses a technique, such as focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity, to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear, emotionally calm, and stable state. It's kind of like a workout for your mind. Meditation as part of your woodhouse wellness program may include

  • Mindfulness Meditation: Paying attention to your thoughts, feelings, and sensations without judgment—often by focusing on your breath.
  • Loving-Kindness Meditation: Focuses on developing an attitude of love and compassion toward yourself and others.
  • Body Scan or Progressive Relaxation: You scan your body for areas of tension and consciously relax them.

Storytelling for Wellbeing is the gentle art of using personal stories—either spoken, written, or shared in community—to heal, connect, reflect, and grow. It’s not about crafting a perfect narrative; it’s about expressing, listening, and being witnessed. it’s a deeply human way to support mental, emotional, and even physical health.
