Did you hear??

On Friday night (8th November), Woodhouse took home the sought-after RAA Voters’ Choice Tourism Award (Accommodation) and also received a Silver award in the Adventure Tourism category of the South Australian Tourism Awards!!

It’s a massive result. To put this in perspective Woodhouse were up against well-established Adventure Tourism operators like Calypso Shark Cage Diving (SHARK DIVING!), Monarto Zoo's new Lion’s 360 experience (FACE-TO-FACE WITH LIONS!!) and the iconic Kangaroo Island wilderness trail (61KM, 5 DAY TREK ON K.I!!). And for the People’s Choice Award think of well known accommodation businesses like the Pullman Adelaide, the Playford Gallery 5 star hotel and the new Atura Hotel in the airport.

For us to even aspire to enter, let alone win, is the product of some amazing work and huge advocacy across a wide range of people with one aspiration; to make Woodhouse the best it can be. 

This award could not have been won without our amazing volunteers who tirelessly work across every part of the property and who take so much pride in the history and legacy the property delivers.

We also acknowledge the amazing governance and effort the 2020 committee put in. Paul and the team thought holistically about the properties strengths (and weaknesses) and enhanced the property to what we have today, this was a critical part of the recent success and we are so thankful for each and everyone’s passion and time they committed.

The Headquarters team through the amazing support of Dan Ryan have provided both the capital to make things happen but also the resources and the encouragement that have allowed us to achieve. Simply put, they are key to our success.

Our front line contractors and facilitator staff are the face of Woodhouse and provide a product that is second to none, whether it be schools camps, birthday parties or welcoming our weekend families in, their smiling faces, energy and enthusiasm provide the quintessential Woodhouse experience - and are all a fair bunch of legends also!

Lastly all of the full time staff who give every part of themselves to make Woodhouse the very best it can be. Their drive and passion to see Woodhouse succeed gives a new meaning to ‘going the extra mile’ - we are so lucky to have each and every one of them. 

These awards are special to me because I recognise the hard work and huge effort it’s taken for us to get here. I couldn’t be prouder to be part of such a huge team effort in realising this success. These awards are a great chance for us to look back at where we have come from and where we have taken the property. It’s now at a point where the South Australian Tourism Industry recognises us as a major contributor and we have created something Scouts and the Public can be proud of and cherish for many years to come.

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support and congratulate you all on a job well done. I look forward to see what the next phase brings for this incredible property.
